Review:
The Furnace Town Historic Site is a living museum which celebrates the history of the old Nassawango Iron Furnace and the town which sprung up around the furnace to house all the workers. The original town was established between 1928 and 1850, but after decades of neglect it had all but disappeared by the late 1920’s. In the 1960’s it was decided to restore the historic town and turn it into the living museum you can visit today. There are several historic buildings to admire including the black-smith shop, the spin shop, the great furnace and several more. There is an on-site crafters shop and several walking/hiking trails to explore.
