If you’re anywhere near the South River, I highly recommend a visit to the Historic London Town and Gardens. I found it to be a peaceful, fascinating place that stretches across 23 acres. It offers a real glimpse into Anne Arundel County’s colonial past. You’ll walk the same grounds as the 1683 London Town settlement, once a major hub of early America.
I think you’ll be especially intrigued by the 1760 William Brown House—it’s the only original structure still standing, and the restoration is impressive.
Don’t skip the gardens either. You’ll see native trees, colorful ornamental flowers, and even medicinal plants that were once staples in early American life. It’s a relaxing, educational outing. I always leave feeling like I’ve stepped back in time.
