Review:

Gruit isn’t a word you hear often, but it is in fact a real thing. This old style beer is made using botanicals like echinacea, rhubarb, spruce, juniper, dandelion, and other herbs, plants, and roots. At Urban Farm Fermentory & Gruit Brewing Co., gruit isn’t just part of the vocabulary, it’s on the menu, along with kombucha, cider, and mead. It’s an incredibly unique combination of products that Urban Farm prides itself on by using local ingredients that are both cultivated and foraged. In their Portland tasting room, visitors can try some of these one of a kind products in an industrial yet comfortable space. The tasting room feels a lot like a brewery, and is host to a lot of events like music performances by local artists.
