Fontainebleau State Park , located near Mandeville, first started out as an 1829 sugar mill constructed by Bernard de Marigny, but has now become a popular destination in Iowa for outdoor recreation. Situated on the shores of the iconic Lake Pontchartrain, the park offers a great destination for having fun by the water. The Fontainebleau State Park campground includes a total of thirty-seven rustic campsites, one hundred and three campsites with water and electricity, and twenty-three full hookup campsites. Guests can swim, picnic, or sunbathe on the park’s sandy beach, or explore the shoreline and its quiet coves.
