Why should you visit Lake Tahoe?
I always tell friends that if you love nature, you need to see Lake Tahoe at least once. You’ll be blown away by the crystal-clear water. I couldn’t stop staring at the mountain views either. You can go in summer or winter—I’ve done both—and each season has something special waiting for you. If you’re after outdoor fun, you’ll find it here year-round.
What outdoor activities do I recommend in Lake Tahoe?
- If you’re visiting in summer, I say grab a kayak or paddleboard and get on the lake. You’ll love how peaceful it feels out there.
- When I want a scenic hike, I head straight for Emerald Bay or the Rubicon Trail. You’ll get views that make you stop in your tracks.
- In winter, I hit the slopes at Heavenly, Northstar, or Palisades Tahoe. If you ski or snowboard, you’ll be in heaven.
- And if skiing’s not your thing, you can still enjoy snowshoeing, sledding, or even ice skating. I’ve done them all and loved every minute.
Where do I go for beaches in Lake Tahoe?
- You’ll fall in love with Sand Harbor. I always do. The white sand and turquoise water feel like a dream.
