Review:

Known as a pioneer in the food scene of Louisville’s NuLu neighborhood, the Mayan Café is an authentic Mayan restaurant headed by Chef, Bruce Ucan for more than a decade. This modern café steeped in rich history offers a romantic and intimate atmosphere with mock-brick walls adorned with photo art of Mayan-life scenes and simple craft wood tables and chairs are illuminated by dim lighting. Focused on sustainability, nearly all of their products and ingredients come from local farms and producers including many of their sodas. Serving authentic Mayan food with a farm-to-table twist, the menu features dishes like Cochinita Pibil – slow-roasted pork, pickled onions, achiote sauce, tok-sel lima beans, and pim tortilla filled with cheese and beans.
