Best Time to Visit

If you’re planning your trip, I’d recommend visiting between April and October. I’ve been there in spring and fall when the weather was just right for being outdoors—you’ll love the fresh air and colorful views. Summer is great too if you’re up for outdoor festivals and long walks through the countryside. And even in winter, it’s got a quiet charm. I’ve ducked into museums and local cafés on colder days and still felt like I was getting the full experience.

How to Get There

  • Driving? That’s usually how I get there. Richmond is right off I-75, about 30 minutes south of Lexington. If you’re coming from Louisville or Knoxville, it’s a smooth 2-hour drive either way—perfect for a weekend escape.

  • Krafty Kitchen & Bar – For casual dining, I can’t recommend Krafty Kitchen & Bar enough. It’s a great spot for burgers, beer, and Southern comfort food with a modern twist. You’ll love the laid-back atmosphere!
  • Babylon Café – If you’re in the mood for Mediterranean, this family-run café is a must-try. I’m always craving their gyros, falafel, and hummus. The flavors are just amazing, and it feels like you’re eating at a friend’s place.
  • Chenault Vineyards – I love visiting Chenault Vineyards for a wine tasting. The views of the rolling hills are gorgeous, and having lunch there makes for such a relaxing experience. If you enjoy wine, you’ll want to add this to your list!
