Review:
Located on the island of Sicily, Ragusa is famous for its ancient Baroque-style Ibla area and for its delectable chocolate.
The Ibla area (Old Town) was rebuilt in the Baroque style after a disastrous earthquake in 1693. The elevated upper town, Ragusa Superiore, is separated from the old town by a deep ravine and occupies a most attractive hill-top position. The lovely old town is well-worth exploring and is filled with Baroque gems around every corner.
Perhaps the most impressive building is the cathedral, Duomo di San Giorgio, which contains many priceless art works. History buffs will enjoy the Museo del Duomo which contains many ancient objects rescued from the ruins of the earthquake.
