Situated in the southern region of Indiana, Charlestown State Park was once a mostly undeveloped section of the expansive Indiana Army Ammunition Plant.

The now state park can be accessed easily from Interstate 65, but is still hidden enough away to escape from everything and get out into nature. Along with camping, Charlestown State Park includes several other recreation activities, such as wildlife viewing, fishing, boating, hiking, and biking. The park grounds are characterized by deep ravines and rolling, rugged hills that contribute to the place’s unique qualities. While hiking, visitors can see karst sinkhole topography and Devonian fossil outcrops.
