Angel Mounds State Historic Site comprises the remnants of a town that was constructed and occupied between 1100 AD and 1450 AD. Located on the banks of the Ohio River, the site is one of the farthest northeastern displays of Mississippian culture. It is nationally recognized as one of the best-conserved ancient Native American sites in the US and is identified as a U.S. National Historic Landmark and on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Today, visitors will be able to experience how the thriving community lived a thousand years ago through the site and many artifacts which have been discovered there.
