Also known as the Old Vanderburgh County Courthouse, this fine example of 19th century governmental architect is a must-see for all history and architecture enthusiasts. The impressive structure was designed by Louisville architect Henry Wolters, and is an outstanding example of the Beaux Arts style, which replaced earlier Victorian building designs. The beautiful building was built using local Indian limestone and features marble floors, slate stairs, much wrought iron and brass and a soaring 216-foot bell tower which still dominates the Downtown Evansville skyline. To see the interior of this beautiful building you can round up a group of interested friends and request a guided tour presented by the Old Courthouse Foundation.
