Review:

This 13,500-acre nature preserve sits at the head of Beaverkill Valley. Famous for its prime fly fishing conditions, Beaverkill Valley is home to Alder Lake, a haven for trout. The forest boasts 22 miles of trails that range in length from 1.5 miles to 13.4 miles. Visitors can take several routes to the Balsam Lake Mountain Summit.

Each route passes by lakes, a waterfall, streams, ponds, and other interesting natural features. Popular summertime activities at Balsam Lake Mountain Wild Forest include hiking, biking, fishing, canoeing, camping and backpacking. In the winter visitors like to snowshoe or cross-country ski along the trails. Map
