The Mormon Station State Historic Park pays tribute to the early Mormon pioneer settlers, who established the first non-native settlement in Nevada. Back in 1851 the pioneers built a simple trading post along the epic California Trail to offer supplies and a place to rest for the many travelers making the hazardous journey across the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Sadly, the original trading post was burnt down in a massive fire in 1910 and the structure you will see today is a reconstruction of the original. The replica trading post serves as a museum which is filled with historic exhibits and artifacts and is surrounded by peaceful gardens and trees.
