Review:

The Southampton City Art Gallery was founded in 1939 and houses over 5,000 pieces of art, ranging from paintings, drawings, and sculptures to film and photographs and spanning eight centuries. Based at the Art Deco Civic Centre complex, the gallery’s collection features works by world-renowned 20th-century and contemporary British artists such as Richard Deacon and Tony Cragg. Other notable pieces in the collection include sculptures by Auguste Rodin, Henri Gaudier-Brzeska, and Edgar Degas, and a magnificent 14th-century altarpiece by the Ancona painter Allegretto Nuzi.
