While primitive camping may not be everyone’s cup of tea, the islands of the Cape Lookout National Seashore are certainly an idyllic place to pitch a tent and get back to nature. You can spend your days swimming, walking, surfing and enjoying amazing sunsets. However, do not expect home comforts of any kind here – you need to bring along everything you need for your adventure including your tent, sturdy tent pegs, drinking water and food – there are no established campgrounds and many of the islands do not have toilets or showers, so be prepared for a back to nature experience. Visitors are welcome to camp with their vehicles, provided they do not drive onto the protected dunes, and carry out all their trash.
