Like much of downtown Nantucket, The Brass Lantern was built in 1847, after the devastating fire of the previous year. The Main Inn has seen many alterations, additions and modernization projects since then. There are currently 15 en-suite bedrooms and two family units. Pets are welcome. The units in the Main Inn are named after whaling boats of yore. Continental breakfast includes homemade granola, dainty pastries and fresh fruit. Afternoon tea is accompanied by traditional cookies. The Inn is set in historic downtown on a cobblestone street. The ferry terminal, harbor, Whaling Museum, shops and restaurants are all close by.
