Itasca State Park is the oldest state park in Minnesota, protecting and showcasing an enormous area of over 32,000 acres of forests and lakes, encompassing the headwaters of the mighty Mississippi. As such, if offers visitors a wide diversity of outdoor recreational attractions including camping, hiking, biking, swimming, boating, fishing and wildlife watching. Fishing boats, canoes, kayaks and bicycles are available to rent in the park and the Visitor’s Center can supply you with trail maps and all the information you need for a great day out. In winter the park turns into a snowy wonderland where visitors can enjoy cross-country skiing, snow shoeing and a groomed snowmobile trail.
