After 25 years of road-tripping and travel writing, I’ve learned that sometimes the best stops are the unexpected ones—and Primm fits that bill perfectly. If you’re looking for a quick break from Las Vegas or just a quirky spot along I-15, I’d absolutely point you here. I’ve rolled dice, found outlet steals, and even braved a roller coaster—all in this little border town that packs a punch. You’ll find it playful, nostalgic, and surprisingly fun for such a small desert outpost.
Best Time to Visit
From my experience, spring and fall (March–May and September–November) are ideal. You’ll appreciate the cooler desert air while you wander the casinos, shop the outlets, or just stretch your legs on a road trip. I always avoid the midsummer blaze—trust me, you’ll thank yourself for coming in milder weather.
How to Get There
- By Car: I usually drive from Las Vegas—it’s just a quick 40-minute shot down I-15, and you’ll spot Primm right as you cross into Nevada from California. You’ll find easy parking and fast access to everything.
- By Shuttle: I’ve seen a few Vegas hotels offer shuttles and day trips that include Primm. If you don’t feel like driving, this is an easy and relaxing option for you.
- By Air: Fly into Harry Reid International (LAS), and then grab a rental. I’ve done this route many times—it’s smooth and straightforward, especially if you’re combining Vegas and a little Primm detour.
Where to Stay
- Primm Valley Resort & Casino: I stayed here when I wanted the full casino-resort vibe without Vegas prices. You’ll be steps from the outlet mall and right in the center of it all.
- Buffalo Bill’s Resort & Casino: I came for the coasters and stayed for the kitschy Western charm. It’s a fun spot, especially if you’ve got kids or just love old-school themes.
- Whiskey Pete’s Hotel & Casino: I once filled up at the gas station next door and ended up staying the night. You’ll find it affordable, laid-back, and full of desert character.
