Located just 10 scenic miles from Hana, the Wai’anapanapa State Park covers 122 fascinating acres along the east coast of Maui. The park is home to many unique features including one of the world’s rare black beaches. You can explore on foot along 2 walking/hiking trails which will reveal other-worldly sea-sculpted lava rock formations and several sheltered sea caves. Other curiosities include a hidden swimming hole, a birthing pool and a natural stone arch. Remember to bring along your camera - the contrast between the verdant green forests, black volcanic rocks and beaches and the azure Pacific water is truly amazing. You can bring a picnic or your camping gear for an overnight stay at the campground.
