10 Best Weekend Getaways from Seattle

Coastal towns, island retreats to mountain adventures make the Seattle area a dream when it comes to getting away from the city and recharging from a stressful weekend. After a whirlwind city week, here are my favorite weekend spots just a short drive or ferry ride away to spend 48 hours exploring, relaxing and reconnecting... I hope you enjoy them too.

    1. Willows Lodge - 30 minutes from Seattle
In the heart of Woodinville wine country, Willows Lodge is my favorite weekend getaways in Washington state and honestly it feels worlds away from city bustle, yet such as conveniently short drive from Seattle! From the timber beams and cozy stone fireplaces to beautiful garden paths, every detail made me feel comfortable and welcomed at this Pacific Northwest sanctuary.
I thought that my room for two days was dream come true and just what we needed after a hectic workweek. I soaked in the oversized soaking tub built for two, watched the crackling fireplace at the foot of our bed, and even used the plush seating area to read for an hour.
I also treated myself to a 60-minute lavender-infused massage at the full-service spa on our first day! After that, we checked out the gardens, warmed up in the outdoor hydrotherapy pool, and by then were ravenous for farm-to-table dishes at the award-winning Barking Frog restaurant (you really need to book ahead of time on weekends!). Afterwards, you can also go for tasting flights at the adjacent winery across the courtyard!

What I loved best:
My absolute favorite highlight was the private balcony overlooking beautiful lodge gardens and riverside trails.

    2. Salish Lodge & Spa - 35 minutes from Seattle
I found it impossible not to fall for the Salish Lodge & Spa, perched dramatically above the roaring Snoqualmie Falls! What I loved most was how the lodge blends refined Northwest charm with indulgent comfort, the kind of place where rustic warmth meets modern luxury and you keep wondering how it all fits together so perfectly!
I loved how the décor struck a balance between lodge coziness and contemporary polish with stone fireplaces, rich wood accents, and soft, modern furnishings. I thought that it felt serene, romantic, and deeply connected to nature while still offering a sense of upscale sophistication.
My Spa Level King Room for two days was a true sanctuary and I loved its private fireplace, oversized soaking tub, and eco-luxury bath products. The floor-to-ceiling windows gave me breathtaking views of the surrounding evergreens and the amazing waterfalls. I kept thinking that it felt like stepping into a Pacific Northwest dream, like a Netflix romance come to life. For me, the turndown honey cookies (a nod to the lodge’s own honeybees) were an especially sweet touch!
I pampered myself with a 60-minute sugar scrub treatment at their world-class spa, and especially appreciated that they use locally sourced oils.
Evenings were spent cozying up by the fire pit, sipping wine, and listening to the falls echo in the background. It felt both intimate and grand, like being in a natural cathedral.
There were hiking trails right near Salish Lodge so you can be active on vacation too. I also found it impressive that Salish Lodge & Spa won the #1 Resort Hotel in the West by Travel + Leisure award in 2024!

The Dining Room was my favorite place where we savored regional Pacific Northwest cuisine, including fresh salmon and amazing farm-to-table meals.

    3. Skamania Lodge, Stevenson
I discovered this stunning retreat tucked away in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge years ago. Skamania Lodge is a grand, timber-framed mountain lodge surrounded by old-growth forests, rolling hills, and incredible river views that we loved.
While the building feels rustic and welcoming with its soaring stone fireplace and lodge-style wood beams, I found the vibe inside elevated and adventurous, leaning into Pacific Northwest coziness with modern flair.
The staff told me that each of the guest rooms was designed to reflect the natural beauty of the Gorge. I loved the mix of textures: warm wood, soft plaids, earthy tones, and large windows framing postcard-worthy landscapes.
My own room for two days was lovely with an earthy, lodge-chic aesthetic with cozy leather chairs, plush bedding, and eco-friendly touches like refillable toiletries.
I was so happy with the location right on the doorstep of hiking trails, waterfalls, and the Columbia River. It felt both remote and connected, with Stevenson’s small-town charms and local breweries just minutes away.
During my stay, I explored the surrounding trails, played a round of golf on their 18-hole course, and treated myself to a 60-minute massage plus relaxation at the spa.
The lodge’s Adventure Park is thrilling with panoramic views from the treetops!

    4. The Wild Iris Inn
I was genuinely charmed by the 4-star Wild Iris Inn, a boutique retreat that perfectly blends small-town coziness with refined style.
Nestled right in the heart of La Conner, it stood out to me for its inviting atmosphere and thoughtful balance of modern comfort with rustic Northwest charm.
I was in awe of the charming Craftsman-style architecture, paired with interiors that felt both polished and intimate. I admired the décor with its elegant wood accents, fireplaces, the coolest local artwork, and cozy reading places. To me it felt upscale yet approachable.
My guest room for two days was equally delightful with the comfy pillow-top bed wrapped in fine linens, a whirlpool tub, a fireplace, a private balcony overlooking the gardens, and even freshly baked cookies waiting for me at check-in!
The gourmet breakfast (scones, seasonal fruit, and hearty egg dishes) was the perfect start to each day. 5. TreeHouse Point - 35 minutes from Seattle
We stumbled upon TreeHouse Point, tucked away in a lush forest just 30 minutes from downtown Seattle about 10 years ago and have been back a few times since because we simply adore it here! Surrounded by trees and a peaceful river, it felt worlds away while still being surprisingly close to the city.
Our treehouse for two days was located high above the forest floor and connected via winding pathways and rope bridges. It felt both whimsical and serene, like stepping into a woodland fairytale that completely won me over. (Unfortunately if you are afraid of heights, I don't think you would be comfortable here.)
Breakfast was a highlight, with hearty homemade dishes like farm-fresh eggs, flaky pastries, and seasonal fruit served in a cozy communal lodge. In the evenings, I enjoyed sipping local Washington wines by the firepit, listening to the sounds of the forest.
There were also guided nature walks, yoga sessions on the lawn, and plenty of quiet corners to read, journal, or simply unwind. The experience was as much about connecting with nature as it was about recharging away from the buzz of city life.

    6. FivePine Lodge and Spa - 5 hours 30 minutes from Seattle
If you have time for a long weekend adventure, head to FivePine Lodge! I think it's one of Central Oregon’s most serene boutique retreats, because of the way FivePine Lodge blends rustic architecture with all the contemporary amenities. We stayed in a spacious craftsman-style cabin for two days that featured boutique décor with natural accents, a a luxurius soaking tub, plush bedding, free WiFi, a private patio, and floor-to-ceiling windows that offered tranquil forest views.
The lodge was ideally located in Sisters, Oregon, so I was within walking distance of independent shops, galleries, and restaurants. Nearby were scenic hiking and biking trails, Three Creeks Brewing Company, and easy access to the Cascade Mountains for outdoor adventures.
It also featured an onsite spa offering holistic treatments, a heated outdoor pool, a fitness center, and a cozy main lodge where complimentary wine receptions were held each evening. We also enjoyed access to a local athletic club with yoga classes and a movie house just steps away.

    7. Saratoga Inn - 1 hour from Seattle
The ferry ride to Whidbey Island always slows my thoughts, but it was Saratoga Inn that truly made us stop. With its wraparound porch, bay views, and soft quilts, it felt like a novel waiting to be written.
This stylish yet unpretentious boutique stay perfectly blended comfort with a creative local flair. Set in a lovingly restored historic building right in the heart of Saratoga’s charming waterfront district, the inn had a laid-back elegance that instantly felt welcoming.
The neighborhood itself brimmed with character with cozy cafés, artisan shops, and easy strolls along the harbor, with plenty of options for casual fine dining and live music in the evenings.
The interiors struck a balance between classic warmth and quirky personality. Polished wood, oversized windows, and nautical-inspired accents were paired with colorful vintage-style furniture, creating an atmosphere that felt both timeless and fun.
A big part of the charm was the communal vibe. I found myself effortlessly striking up conversations with fellow travelers in the lounge over a glass of wine or a board game.

Hardwood floors and bay-facing windows added a sense of cozy sophistication, while amenities such as free WiFi, mini-fridges, and flat-screen TVs kept things modern. 8. Friday Harbor House - 3 hours from Seattle
I thought that Friday Harbor House is perfect for a long weekend getaway to the islands if you want amazing views of the San Juan Channel, great food and a walkable location in a small town.
The drive from Seattle to Anacortes took just under two hours. In Anacortes, you will board the ferry which will take you to Friday Harbor. The ferry trip from Anacortes to Friday Harbor is just over an hour.
My room for two days was stylish and had large windows looking out over the water which was my absolute favorite part and why I can't wait to return! Also fabulous was a spa-inspired bathroom with a soaking bath tub, modern art, a knit throw, and artisan bath products that smelled amazing! There was also a flat-screen TV and in-room coffee with beans from a local roaster, perfect for slow mornings.

    9. Campbell’s Resort on Lake Chelan - 3 hours from Seattle
Campbell’s Resort on Lake Chelan is one of the best lakeside weekend getaways you can take from Seattle. The most amazing part for me are the views, both of the lake and of the mountains, especially in the spring. I found it fascinating that the historic property dates back to 1901 and is also family-owned.
My guest room for two days was cozy with warm wood accents, a fireplace, but the best part was a private balcony where I could watch the sunrise over the lake with a coffee in the morning.
The resort’s location in downtown Chelan meant I was within walking distance of shops, local wineries, and even the lakeside trails! I loved having the car parked over the weekend and getting around on foot.
We ate at the resort itself because both the food and the view were great at Campbell’s Pub & Veranda. For relaxation, I got a 30-minute pedicure and then spent an hour relaxing at their full-service spa.
