The J. C. Newman Cigar Company is America's oldest family-owned premium cigar company, originally founded in 1895 by Julius Caesar Newman. The iconic cigar makers have been anchored within Tampa's Ybor City National Historic Landmark District since 1954, operating out of the El Reloj factory, which produces cigars both by hand and using antique cigar-making technologies. As the city's last remaining classic cigar factory, the El Reloj factory is a regional landmark. Free guided tours of the factory are planned to operate to coincide with the company's 125th anniversary celebration in 2020. In the meantime, visitors can explore the company's public museum as part of free self-guided tours Mondays through Fridays during business hours.
