St. George Island, a narrow, 28-mile long barrier island off Florida's Gulf Coast, is a quaint, unspoiled oasis with some of the best beaches in the country.

Most people spend time lying on the beach swimming, collecting beautiful shells of all shapes and sizes, fishing, or hiking through the verdant marshes full of birds.

Many trails will take you all around the island. You can walk or rent a bike – the island is so small you can see a lot in a short time. Visit Apalachicola very informative Maritime Museum, climb 92 stairs to the top of the Cape Saint George Lighthouse, take the kids fishing with one of many charter boats, go snorkeling, build sand castles, or sample one of many great seafood restaurants.
