The Jefferson School African American Heritage Center, housed inside of the Jefferson School City Center, strives to preserve and honor the legacy and rich heritage of the Charlottesville-Albemarle area’s African-American community. It is also dedicated to promoting an understanding of and an appreciation for the contributions of African American people, as well as peoples of the Diaspora, on a local, national, and international level. The Jefferson School African American Heritage Center consists of a contemporary art gallery featuring rotating exhibits and a permanent history exhibit.
