History:The plantation was constructed in a Palladian style and was the only plantation house on the Ashley River to survive both the Revolutionary and Civil wars. Drayton Hall is a National Historic Landmark, surrounded by early-English historic landscape.
The National Trust for Historic Preservation acquired the property in 1974 and has preserved it in such a way that lets visitors observe the impact of changing tastes though the centuries.
