The National Atomic Testing Museum is devoted to educating the public about the country's nuclear weapons testing at the Nevada test site. It aims to promote a better understanding of the role that testing plays in deterring nuclear weapons and in geo-political history.

The museum collects and preserves artifacts related to not only the Nevada test site, but also atomic testing, the Cold War, nuclear science, radiological science, and related technology.

Currently, the museum's collection includes more than 16,000 artifacts, many of them rare. Aside from showcasing the collection in exhibits, the 8,000-square-foot space also features learning activities on topics such as atmospheric and underground testing, radiation, and the atomic age.
