The Frontiers of Flight Museum is Dallas' premiere aerospace museum, originally founded in 1988 by Kay Bailey Hutchison, William E. Cooper, and Jan Collmer. The museum, which was originally opened to the public within a terminal at Dallas Love Field, now occupies more than 100,000 square feet along Lemmon Avenue and is a Smithsonian-affiliated organization, presenting one of the nation's most impressive collections of aviation history artifacts and aircraft. Prominent exhibits and artifacts include the preserved Apollo 7 Command Module and artifacts from the famed German airship Hindenburg, along with a collection of more than 200 World War II-era aircraft. 13 galleries showcase the history of aviation from the pioneering efforts of the Wright Brothers at the turn of the 20th century to the future of modern space flight.
