Review:
Known on the University of Nebraska at Kearny campus as the Frank House, the museum is a magnificent mansion made of beautiful Colorado red sandstone which was built by the G.W. Frank family to entice investors to Kearney. It was the first house in the area to be wired for electricity when it was built in 1886.
It had indoor plumbing, steam radiators, 14,000 square feet of living space, a ceramic tile roof, 10 original fireplaces, hand-carved woodwork, English oak paneling and a stately staircase. In 1972, the house was deeded to the University of Nebraska and ever since it has been open to the public as a house museum. Its rooms are used for various exhibits, receptions and conferences. The home is on the National Register of Historic Places.
