Saville Dam, formerly known as Bill's Brook dam, is a 135 ft. tall and 1,950 ft. long embankment dam built on the Farmington River in Barkhamsted, Connecticut. The result of the dam is the Barkhamsted Reservoir with a volume of 36.8 billion US gallons. The reservoir is the main source of water for Hartford, Connecticut. The construction of the dam was finished in May 1940 but it took eight more years for the Barkhamsted Reservoir to be filled to capacity. There is a scenic parking area on Route318 which provides great views of the spillway and reservoir and some great hiking trails.
