What was once a historic Civil War military and logging community and parade grounds for Civil War soldiers from Camp McClellan is now the Village of East Davenport, a popular Davenport entertainment and shopping district full of galleries, pubs, restaurants, and boutiques. The Village, as it is called by the locals, is the oldest neighborhood in Davenport. It is stretched along the Mississippi River in southeast Davenport and includes the popular Upper and Lower Lindsay Parks. There is always something going on – the area is a popular venue for local events and celebrations, a place to come for a pleasant stroll and browse through unique shops, or to look for a special gift, have a massage, or book a room in one of the quaint B&Bs. The Village is registered on the National Register of Historic Places.
