MacArthur Place is a century old ranch that was eventually renovated into a luxury inn and spa. Formerly owned by a prominent Missouri farmer and land owner named David Burris, this 300-acre land is rich with fruit orchards, vineyards, crops, cattle, and horses.
ive generations of the Burris family and various transfers of ownership years later, the property has been remodelled into a 64-room hotel featuring luxurious and state-of-the-art conference facilities, a full service spa, and a widely recognized restaurant. Today, MacArthur Place is home to plenty of historical architecture, charming new cottages, paintings, and all kinds of gardens filled with various original sculptures for visiting guests to admire.
MacArthur Place is quite easy to find. It’s only 45 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge (north) and about 30 minutes from Santa Rosa. It’s also only one and a half hours from the airports of San Francisco, Oakland, and Sacramento.

One feature that sets MacArthur Place apart from other inns within its class is the Garden Spa. Named the “Best Spa” within Sonoma based on the Sonoma Index-Tribune’s People’s Choice Awards, Garden Spa offers more than 40 types of massage services, body treatments, facials and waxing, and other relaxing treatments.
Following a “Farm to Massage Table” approach, Garden Spa makes use of the best single note essential oils instead of blends in order to maximize the experience of a single essential oil. Choose from any of the spa’s signature treatments for a 100-minute long session or go for any of the spa’s special packages, which offer a combination of treatments, lunch, and a special gift.
To complete the spa experience, Garden Spa comes equipped with several indoor treatment rooms, a lounge, locker rooms, and a co-ed steam room. There’s also the Garden Shop for guests who want to bring home any of the spa’s products.
