Located on Porter Drive on the campus of Stanford University, the Hanna House was the first house that Frank Lloyd Wright designed and built in the San Francisco area. The project began in 1937, and it was Wright’s first and best example of a non-rectangular hexagonal design.

Listed as a U.S. National Historic Landmark, the design of the house is based on the honeycomb of a bee with many six-sided figures, numerous tiled terraces, and built-in furniture. The house is sometimes referred to as the Hanna-Honeycomb House, and it was built for Jean and Paul R. Hanna, both educators associated with Stanford University. Map
