The Center for Social Justice & Civil Liberties is dedicated to teaching people about American politics and culture during the 20th century. The center contains interactive displays that tell the stories of Japanese internment camp occupants and civil liberty activists.

The center is also home to the Mine Okubo Collection, a powerful assortment of paintings, drawings, and documents created by Mine Okubo during the World War II internment of Japanese Americans. The center is mainly used for research and education purposes, but it is open to the public on certain Sundays. Group tours and events can be scheduled in advance.
