Riverside Live Steamers (RLS) operates and maintains a railroad track that is used solely by miniature steam locomotives.

Joe Hunter, a steam locomotive enthusiast who lived in Riverside during the 1950s, founded the organization. As train technology hurtled toward the future, Hunter realized that steam locomotives would likely become a thing of the past.

Hunter purchased 40 acres of land and constructed a 4,300-foot railroad along with a steam locomotive with three cars. He operated the track until his death in 1965. Shortly after, the track was turned over to RLS, that expanded the railroad to more than 10,000 feet of track. Today, around 20,000 visitors ride along the historic miniature track each year.
