The California Symphony is one of the San Francisco Bay Area's premiere symphony orchestras, originally founded in 1986 under the artistic vision of founding director Barry Jekowsky. Today, the orchestra is helmed by music director Donato Cabrera and strives to craft modern concert programs blending classic works with pieces by living composers for a uniquely 21st-century concert experience. A number of orchestra members also perform with other San Francisco-area arts organizations, including the San Francisco Symphony, the San Francisco Ballet, and the San Francisco Opera. Regular season performances are showcased at the Lesher Center the Arts, with additional season performances showcased at venues throughout the Bay Area and Napa Valley.
