Based at LEGOLAND® California Resort in Carlsbad, SEA LIFE® Aquarium is an interactive aquarium and marine park that offers visitors an interactive guide to the life of the sea. The Aquarium is home to more than 5,000 sea creatures and features interactive and hands-on learning activities, adventures, up-close encounters with various animals, and a variety of fascinating educational talks and feeding demonstrations.
SEA LIFE® Aquarium features an array of exhibits, displays and marine habitats where visitors can learn about and interact with a diverse range of more than 250 species of marine creatures. Home to more than 5,000 creatures, including rays, sharks, octopi, seahorses, and myriad tropical fish, including clownfish (Nemo). Exhibits include a Freshwater Exhibit, a Harbor Exhibit, an Interactive Touch Pool Exhibit, a Shoaling Exhibit, a Kingdom of the Seahorse Exhibit, a Jellyfish Discovery, and a Shark and Ray Lagoon. Other exhibits include a Tropical Ocean Exhibit and a Shipwreck Exhibit.
The Jellyfish Discovery exhibit features over 100 jellies gracefully swimming around ceiling-high tube tanks with multi-colored spotlights. This interactive attraction offers guests the opportunity to get an up-close look at these mysterious creatures of the deep, as well as the chance to touch and hold one of them.
SEA LIFE® Aquarium offers a variety of educational programs, workshops, and demonstrations that teach visitors about marine creatures, their feeding habits, and the importance of conserving the aquatic environment. Educational programs include an Interactive Rockpool Experience at the Touch Pool where visitors can touch various creatures in a Southern California Rockpool. The Dive Show at Shipwreck is led by marine experts and offers an opportunity to learn the secrets of the sea, and the Ray Lagoon Feed at Ocean View Window allows guests to watch sharks and sting rays feed.
SEA LIFE® Aquarium partners with various other marine-based companies in a variety of conservation projects and initiatives, including the Breed, Rescue and Protect Project, the Sealife Trust, and the Sea Life Carlsbad Local Conservation.
One of the SEA LIFE® Aquarium’s partners is the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program, which recommends which seafood to buy or avoid according to the environmental impact. SEA LIFE® Aquarium also participates in the Southern California Aquarium Collaborative, which focuses on educating visitors about environmental issues such as climate change.
SEA LIFE® Aquarium is based in the LEGOLAND® California Resort on 1 Legoland Drive and is open to the public daily from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission to the SEA LIFE® Aquarium includes daily educational talks and feeding demonstrations, access to the 180 degree Ocean Tunnel, and interactive touch pool experiences with sharks, rays and more. Facilities at SEA LIFE® Aquarium include disabled access, restroom and a baby changing area, and admission for service animals.
