In 1762 Hindu Rajput ruler, Jai Singh II, ordered the constructed of Jaigarh Fort as a way of protecting Amer Fort and its palace complex.
The fort sits on a high point off of the Aravalli Mountain Range and offers stunning views of Amer Fort, the palace complex, Maota Lake, and the breathtaking surroundings. Made from red sandstone, the fort is still in pristine condition today and has some amazing architectural features for you to take in. You’ll still be able to see one of the original cannon installations named ‘Jaivana’, which at one point was the largest cannon on wheels in the world.
