The Arkansas & Missouri Railroad, also known as the A&M, is a Class III short-line railroad in Springdale that operates a line extending 139.5 miles from Fort Smith in Arkansas to Monett in Missouri. Initially owned by BN predecessor St. Louis-San Francisco Railway, better known as the Frisco, the Arkansas and Missouri Railroad dates back to the 1980s when it took over approximately 140 miles of railroad owned by the Burlington Northern Railroad. The Arkansas and Missouri Railroad runs three different excursion trips, using vintage heavyweight passenger cars and one, lightweight, streamlined parlor car that was built in the 1950s. These trips range in length and boast spectacular views of the Ozark Mountain range and the Arkansas River.
