1. Interstate Park

The Interstate Park in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin consists of two state parks located adjacently on the border of Wisconsin and Minnesota. Both of these parks are named “Interstate State Park.” The park straddles the Dalles along the St. Croix River, which consists of a deep basalt gorge with rock formations and glacial potholes. The western part of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail can be found on the Wisconsin side of the Interstate Park, while rustic building listed with the National Register of Historic Places are located on the park’s Minnesota side. The Wisconsin Interstate Park encompasses 1,330 acres.

The Dancing Dragonfly Winery in St. Croix Falls is a family-owned and operated winery nestled in the stunning St. Croix River Valley. Owners Christine and Bill Bluhm are committed to creating high quality wines from the cold-climate grapes grown in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Wine tastings are offered daily, as well as a variety of food, such as oven-baked cheeses, wood-fired pizza, grilled paninis, flatbreads, and more. The Dancing Dragonfly Winery is open Sunday to Saturday, with the exception of New Year’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day. Wines include a variety of reds and whites, along with a few specialty wines.

3. St. Croix National Scenic Riverway

The St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, located in northwestern Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota, is protected by the National Park Service and preserves 252 miles of riverways. Part of the country’s original eight National Wild and Scenic Rivers, the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway is the largest of the scenic riverways on the eastern side of the Mississippi River. The upper part is a smallmouth bass nationally-renowned fishery, along with sturgeon, catfish, walleye, and other fishing opportunities. In addition to fishing, the scenic riverway is a great spot for other outdoor recreation activities, such as hunting, tubing, camping, boating, and canoeing.

4. Trap Brewing Company

5. Rock and River

The Rock and River is a stone bench designed and created by a group of nine young summer school students between the ages of nine and twelve, along with help from their teacher, Amy Klein, and several other people in the community, such as Ranger Dale Cox with the National Park Service, staff from the Franconia Sculpture Park, and James Shoop, a local St. Croix Falls bronze sculpture artist. The bench features small bronze sculptures the students created in Shoop’s studio. The Rock and River provides a great spot for people to just sit and relax on the Gaylord Nelson Riverwalk.

6. Loggers Bar and Grill

The Loggers Bar and Grill offers the history of logging combined with delicious food and refreshing drinks. Open daily, from Sunday to Saturday, for all-day dining, including late night, the bar and restaurant is one of the St. Croix Falls area’s most popular spot for a meal that includes sandwiches, soup, homemade pizza, and more, along with a Fish Fry on Friday nights. The Loggers Bar offers a wide variety of beverages kept cold by “state-of-the-art” chill discs, such as speciality, drinks, wine, liquor, and an array of beer, including a special free beer each night.

FAWN DOE ROSA Wildlife Educational Park is a must-see for every animal lover. Family-owned and operated since 1963, this wildlife educational park has passionately been educating the public about animals, wildlife, and nature. Through its partnership with national conservation departments and rehabilitators, the park has also been able to practice and spread awareness about proper animal care. Visitors can roam through the park and see various animals including deer, geese, elk, wolves, and even a mountain lion. Other attractions in the park include a petting area, a farmyard, and an opportunity for pony rides. Educational tours are also available for students and large groups. The park is open to visitors seasonally, but their gift shop is open in the off-season as well.

Visit the beautifully regal yet quaint Chateau St. Croix Winery. Designed after a traditional French chateau, the estate is the perfect setting for the winery’s elegant selection of premium wines. Their wine menu is comprised of white wines, red wines, rosés, and dessert wines. They offer classic varieties such as chardonnay and cabernets along with unique ones like their sweet Frontenac port, which carries a rich aroma of black cherry, clove, and spice. Visitors are welcome to the estate for wine tastings along with free tours of the winery on weekends. While there is no restaurant on the premises, a deli offers cheese platters, salami, and chocolates to accompany your wine tasting.

9. The St. Croix Festival Theatre

Established in 1990, The St. Croix Festival Theatre has long been an artistic beacon for the neighboring community. Regarding the performing arts as a vital role in any community’s wellbeing, the theater has also been a creative outlet for artistic professionals while entertaining visitors and locals alike with quality live performances. For over 30 years, the theatre has brought a wide variety of shows, plays, and musical performances to hundreds of thousands of visitors. Currently, the theatre company hosts its shows in the Franklin Square Black Box, but will soon return to the newly restored Civic Auditorium. Ticket prices vary depending on the performance series; however, discounts are available for groups larger than 10.
