I was looking for lakefront relaxation, wine tasting, and mountain views—and I found it in Manson. You’ll love this little lakeside village tucked along the shores of Lake Chelan. I felt instantly welcomed by the boutique wineries, calm water views, and small-town charm. Whether you’re visiting as a couple, with the family, or just need a solo recharge, Manson gives you that peaceful Washington escape you’ve been craving.
Best Time to Visit
Personally, I think May through October is the sweet spot. I’ve spent sunny summer days out on the lake, paddleboarding and wine tasting in flip-flops. But if you ask me, spring and fall are just as lovely. You’ll get mild temps, colorful trees, and fewer people—I always feel like I have the place to myself.
How to Get There
- If you’re driving: I usually take the scenic route from Seattle—it’s about 3.5 hours east. You can choose US-2 or I-90, then hop onto US-97. Follow the signs and you’ll cruise right into Lake Chelan and Manson. The drive through the mountains is honestly half the fun.
- Flying in? I flew into Pangborn Memorial Airport (EAT) in Wenatchee once, and it made the trip so easy. From there, you’re just a scenic 1.5-hour drive away.
- Using public transit? I’ve also taken Link Transit from Wenatchee to Chelan—it’s a budget-friendly option. Then you can grab a taxi or rideshare to Manson. Simple and smooth.
Where to Stay
- Mountain View Lodge & Resort – I stayed here on my first trip and immediately felt at home. You’ll appreciate the lake access, and the staff go out of their way to make your stay easy and warm.
- Wapato Point Resort – If you’re coming with friends or family, I can’t recommend this place enough. The condos are spacious, the beach is private, and I had a blast using the pool and rec facilities.
- Lake’s Edge Waterfront Lodging – For a romantic weekend, this one’s a winner. I loved waking up to water views and sipping wine on the balcony at sunset. It’s quiet, cozy, and just what you need to slow down.
