The campground at the park is a primarily grassy and open area that overlooks the lake, as well as the Adirondack Mountains. Named after the button-like concretions created by clay deposits on the shoreline, Button Bay State Park features four cabins, more than a dozen lean-to sites, and over fifty campsites for RVs and tents. Other campground amenities consist of a nature center with an array of nature programs, a pool with lifeguards, picnic areas, and restroom and shower facilities.
