Ricker Pond State Park is a lovely state park in the city of Groton, one of seven beautiful state parks located within the gorgeous Groton State Forest. The former industrial logging area has been transformed into one of the state's top outdoor recreation areas, established in the 1930s with the assistance of the Civilian Conservation Corps. Today, the forest stretches for more than 26,000 acres, offering opportunities for hiking, equestrian riding, and cross-country skiing. The state park is located along the western shores of its namesake pond and is home to tent, RV, and lean-to campsites for overnight stay, along with the beautiful rental Perry Merrill Cottage, which can sleep four overnight guests.
