Need a refreshing seaside escape in the Netherlands? I’d tell you—go to Scheveningen! I’ve wandered its wide sandy beaches, felt the sea breeze on the boardwalk, and soaked up everything from art museums to fish-and-chip stands. Whether you're in the mood for laid-back coastal days, thrill rides on the pier, or fresh seafood with a view, you’ll find Scheveningen hits the sweet spot of fun and Dutch charm.
Best Time to Visit
I’ve found that late spring through early autumn (May to September) is the best time to go. If you love beach walks, festival energy, or dining outdoors with a sea breeze—this is when you want to be there. I’ve even dipped my toes in the water during summer; it’s brisk, but worth it!
How to Get There
- By Car: I once drove in via the A12 and A4—it took just 15 minutes from The Hague and under an hour from Amsterdam. Easy and scenic.
- By Train: You can take the train to The Hague Central or Holland Spoor. I usually hop on tram 1 or 9 from there, and in no time, you’re walking the beach.
- By Bus/Tram: I’ve used local buses and trams plenty—they’re frequent and drop you right where the action is. If you’re staying in The Hague, it’s incredibly convenient.
Where to Stay
- Grand Hotel Amrâth Kurhaus – I stayed here once for a splurge, and if you love a mix of luxury and history right on the beach, you’ll be glad you booked it.
- Inntel Hotels Den Haag Marina Beach – If you’re after sleek design and ocean views, this place delivers. I loved waking up to the sound of waves.
- Badhotel Scheveningen – I stayed here on a quick weekend trip. It’s classic, comfy, and close to everything—you’ll appreciate the easy access.
