Found right in the heart of Taiwan, Nantou County is the only landlocked county on the entire island. It is home to over 40 mountains, including Taiwan’s highest peak, Mount Jade, or Yushan. The island’s longest river, the Zhuoshui, also winds through the county and offers stunning views. Visitors can spend the day at the beautiful Sun Moon Lake or visit one of the many recreational farms in the area for a nice, peaceful day in the countryside. Other attractions in the area include the Aowanda National Forest, the Ita Thao Lakeside Trail, Xitou Nature Education Area, and the monument that marks the very geographical center of Taiwan.
