Lienchiang County, or Matzu as it is often called after the goddess Mazu, is a collection of small islands that can be found on the Taiwan Strait. The weather can be scorching in the summer, but that doesn’t deter visitors from flocking there to see the fabled Chinese crested tern, a bird renowned by ornithology lovers. During the winter, visitors will be able to see the county come alive during the annual Lantern Festival and other religious ceremonies. When in Lienchiang County, visitors will be able to pick up some great culinary souvenirs to take back home such as healthy red yeast cuisine and delicious pickled vegetables.
