While the bridge is known widely as the La Salve Bridge, this historic bridge in Bilbao is officially named the “Prince and Princess of Spain Bridge.”
Built with green concrete, the La Salve Bridge was the country’s first bridge to be constructed using the cable-stayed system, as well as one of the few bridges in Spain to feature a steel deck. Built during the early part of the 1970’s, the bridge connects the heart of Bilbao to the surrounding suburbs and also now links to the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, making it an important bridge to the city.
