At the Museo Nacional de Arte visitors can enjoy art from the mid 16th century to the 20th century. The museum was founded in the 1980s but was re-inaugurated in 2000 after months of remodeling and technical upgrades. The museum’s permanent collection contains more than 3000 items, which are sorted and displayed by time period. There are also some contemporary exhibits focused on photography and other more recent forms of art. The Museo Nacional de Arte regularly hosts speeches, round table discussions, projects and studies. The institution also has a robust volunteer program for youth and adults.
