The official start of summer in Iceland is in June, and with the premiere of the midnight sun, many tourists love to come during this time of year to enjoy warmer temperatures, seemingly never-ending daylight, and a collection of festivals to brighten the month further. The Festival of the Sea is held to honor the sea and fishery, while the Reykjavik Midsummer Music festival showcases a variety of award-winning chamber music. A newer festival that is still gaining steam is the Secret Solstice festival in the heart of the city; as this festival usually draws big headliners, it also attracts huge crowds.
