March is an excellent time of year to head for Providence, as the town gradually awakens from its winter slumber. The cool temperatures are perfect for hiking and cycling, or you can explore the city by riverboat from Waterplace Park. If you are an art lover, you will want to spend some time touring the RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) or the John Brown House Museum and join the monthly Gallery Walk.
Families can take the children to the zoo, natural history museum and planetarium, all of which are conveniently located in Roger Williams Park. March is also the time to don something green and join a host of St. Patrick’s Day festivities held throughout the town.
