Fairytale perfect, Murren is everyone's idea of the quintessential Alpine mountain village where you are far more likely to encounter cows (with huge cow bells) than cars. Located in one of the prettiest areas of the Bernese Oberland, Murren is perched on the edge of a 3,000-foot precipice and you will need to take a cable car to reach it. Once there, you will find yourself in one of the best hiking areas Switzerland has to offer. From Murren you can reach the summit of Schilthorn, take the railway up to Europe's highest railway station at Jungfroujoch, see the amazing Trummelbach Falls, and take the Schynige Platte cogwheel train to another amazing viewpoint overlooking Interlaken.
