6 Mindfulness, Spa and Yoga Vacation Ideas
As someone who’s explored wellness, mindfulness and yoga retreats over the last 30 years, here are my absolute favorites that I hope you will love too.
Strata Spa and Salon at Garden of the Gods Resort and Club
This place was totally worth traveling for because it actually filled me with awe! You'll be surrounded by the stunning Garden of the Gods landscape in Colorado. The spa has a modern glass design, plus you can see the red rock views outside.
For me, it feels very easy to reach on a quick weekend getaway in Colorado. It's just a little over an hour south from Denver. Here you get all the usual service of a spa, plus comfy accommodations at the resorts, along with other activities too. I recommend leaving plenty of time for relaxing in the outdoor infinity pool overlooking the Rockies...

What I loved best:
Rooftop yoga with views of Pikes Peak.
A downside? I have to warn you that if you go on weekends (especially holidays), the resort is very busy. So you should remember to book your spa treatments ahead of your trip to avoid disappointment.
Skyterra Wellness Retreat, Pisgah Forest, NC
Since moving to the South, I've enjoyed discovering new places to recharge. Skyterra Wellness Retreat in North Carolina instantly became one of my favorites. Why? First off, the location in the Blue Ridge Mountains is one of the most scenic you can wish for. You'll be surrounded by trees, and peaceful streams. Plus, there is the fresh mountain air that's so rejuvenating.
Our private cottage for three days was modern but designed with rustic touches. For me, waking up to the quiet of the forest was entirely magical.
Our days were filled with mindfulness classes, and guided hikes through Pisgah National Forest. The meals were healthy and delicious, perfect to nourish the body after being so active.
Drala Mountain Center
Love the idea of a wellness getaway in the Rockies but want something more off-the-beaten path than Garden of the Gods Resort? Drive about two hours north of Denver to Red Feather Lakes, CO to reach one of my favorite getaways for stillness.
The setting of Drala Mountain Center is awe-inspiring and your accommodations are in a simple lodge with large windows. I love that nature is the main feature, letting you re-connect with life. You'll be surrounded by around 600 acres of alpine meadows and forest.
You can join guided meditation and mindfulness teachings rooted in Tibetan Buddhist traditions. Or if you prefer heading outdoors, enjoy hikes along mountain trails.
Stillpoint Lodge
Summers in Alaska are already magical, but add to that the location of Stillpoint Lodge and you have the perfect vacation idea! The lodge is locatedb in Halibut Cove, surrounded by the waters of Kachemak Bay! We arrived by boat (you can also take the seaplane).
You can book a private chalet with a cozy fireplace, natural wood materials, and large windows.
In the mornings, start your days with yoga and meditation. Then enjoy guided hikes and wildlife excursions. Or test your fishing skills. The best part is returning to the lodge for nourishing meals using locally sourced ingredients.
For me, Stillpoint Lodge is one of the best anniversary ideas for couples looking for wellness.
Franciscan Spirituality Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
If you want to combine a vacation of city exploring with wellness, check out Franciscan Spirituality Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. You'll be in the middle of Milwaukee, but experience serenity.
Our room for two days was comfortable, with soft lighting. In the morning we joined creative workshops, had lunch, then joined a meditation, followed by a walk in the gardens.
What I loved best:
Strolling in the gardens was peaceful, romantic and my personal highlight.
For me, Franciscan Spirituality Center in Wisconsin, is one of the best mindfulness retreats because it's peaceful and unique!
In addition, I love that there's a lot to do nearby as well, including the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Harley-Davidson Museum, the Milwaukee Public Market, and the Pabst Mansion. You can also explore the Milwaukee Riverwalk, visit the Mitchell Park Domes, or enjoy a show at American Family Field.
